Founder & Financial Advisor
Sarah Burton is a financial advisor and the founder of Finturity. In 2008, she began working with her father James Gibney, who provided retirement plans to nonprofit organizations, large and small, in and around Washington, DC. Upon his retirement at the end of 2016, Sarah took over full ownership of the business and established Monument Retirement Advisors, continuing to help organizations navigate the complex world of retirement plans. In 2022, Sarah re-branded the practice as Finturity, expanding services from the DC area to nationwide.
Sarah has passed the Series 6, 63, and 65 FINRA exams and holds her life, health and variable annuity licenses. In 2016, she obtained her Chartered Retirement Planning CounselorSM (CRPC®) designation from the College for Financial Planning. In 2023, she obtained her Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor (CPFA®) designation from NAPA.
Sarah graduated summa cum laude from the University of Mary Washington in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. She lives with her husband, two young sons, and dog in Gaithersburg, MD. She teaches Irish dance once a week, loves reading and Disney World, and roots for the Nationals!

Christine Thomas joined Finturity in 2016. Before joining the team, Christine spent 14 years managing a small family-owned boutique in Gaithersburg, MD. She graduated from Hood College in Frederick, MD with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary and Special Education. Christine married her high school sweetheart and has two small children, a boy and a girl. She loves to trek around a flea market looking for vintage Pyrex dishes or spend time in Virginia where her family has a campsite. Unlike Sarah, Christine roots for the Orioles!
